Looking for something extra special for your holiday season? Go Victorian! Downtown Shreveport is lucky to have two Victorian gems across the street from each other, both offering a glimpse into Christmases past. The Logan Mansion at 725 Austen Place plans to host multiple tours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 20, 21 and 22. Their Winter Tale and Historic Tour will feature a guided tour of the 1897 home by ‘Yesterday’s Lady’ owner Jan Pettiet.
Jan will show you each of the 7 rooms bedecked in Christmas regalia and at the end, you’ll be feted with a special Victorian treat.Tickets for the special walk back in time are $5 for children and $10 for adults. Note that there is a flight of stairs that must be climbed. Tickets should be purchased in advance on their Facebook Event Page; when purchasing, please indicate which of the tours you wish to attend.
Friday there is a tour at 6 pm, 7 pm and 8 pm, Saturday there are tours on the hour from 10 am until 6 pm, and Sunday there are tours on the hour from noon until 4 pm. Tours last one hour. (On Sunday, you can time it to catch both the Logan Tour and the tour of the Ogilvie-Wiener Mansion across the street!) Debbie Bryant, the owner of the Ogilvie-Wiener Mansion, will be your host for a tour of the in-the-process-of-being-rehabbed Ogilvie Wiener Mansion Saturday and Sunday, December 21st & 22nd. On Saturday, her tours will go from 4-8 pm. If you come on the hour and half hour, you should be able to start a tour with minimal waiting. On Sunday, the tours will run from 3-5 pm, with tour starting on roughly the hour and half hour. Tours are a $10.00 per person donation. No reservations are needed & tickets will be sold at the door.
